Dynamic DNA paves the way for women with disabilities in ICT

Dynamic DNA, an ICT training academy and a Dynamic Technologies group company, takes upliftment seriously. Since launching their programme aimed at increasing skills for disabled people in tech to commemorate Disability Rights Awareness Month in November 2023, the programme has generated interest among new and existing clients and resulted in additional intakes.

Dynamic DNA is a proud ambassador of the 4IR4her initiative and has always sought to upskill and empower young South Africans. This new programme focuses on women with disabilities, equipping them with sought-after ICT skills while providing access to specialised training programmes to improve their career prospects. The campaign also connects these students with potential employers and highlights the many benefits of hiring these learners.

For Dynamic DNA MD Prudence Mathebula, expanding the pool of tech talent further by actively supporting and advocating for the inclusion of women with disabilities in the tech space just makes sense. She says, “What sets our programme apart is our comprehensive support system, which includes coaching, life skills training, and tools to effectively navigate challenges related to disabilities. We offer fully managed learnerships specifically designed for people with disabilities, and by empowering disabled learners in the field of IT, we promote diversity and inclusion within the tech industry.”

Prudence outlines the twofold benefits of the programme. “Our skills development solution provides tax breaks for employers, and by participating in our programmes, they can improve their B-BBEE scorecard by meeting the disability target for their financial year and supporting the employment equity target for women with disabilities. Clients also benefit from tax rebates on stipends of up to R120 000 per learner. At the same time, they enhance the lives of disabled people.” The carefully curated programme ensures that learners are fully equipped for their new roles, both in terms of technical and practical skills. Prudence adds, “We offer comprehensive assessments, guidance, and training for individuals and companies to ensure that the training investment yields maximum results.”

She says, “Our primary goal is to empower learners by providing them with the essential skills and resources needed for a successful future. We believe the technology industry is ready for improved inclusivity and increased diversity.”

Dynamic DNA assesses, advises and trains individuals, and companies to ensure that the investment made in training is maximised. The selected programmes have been chosen to address existing critical skills gaps in the industry. They include Information Technology: Technical Support, NQF Level 4, and Information Technology: Systems Development, NQF Level 4.
