Stephen Mogotlane, Marketing Assistant at CloudSmiths

Stephen Mogotlane is the Marketing Assistant at CloudSmiths, a Dynamic Technologies group company. He started at CloudSmiths (then DotModus) as an intern and has worked his way up through the business. He now does video editing, and assists with producing engaging content for campaigns, social media and internal communications, and ongoing marketing campaigns.

In a busy company it can be easy to lose track of the finer details. For Stephen, successfully managing multiple marketing and design projects while maintaining consistency with the CloudSmiths’ brand is something he’s justifiably proud of. He says, “My job allows me to collaborate closely with different teams, delve into our different products and services and develop my skills in areas such as brand communication. I find it so rewarding to see how my contributions help drive brand awareness and support the company’s growth.”

Stephen is making the most of his journey at CloudSmiths and he feels he has benefitted professionally and personally from a business culture that embraces a holistic approach to employee wellbeing and supports growth and development. “Working at CloudSmiths has helped me grow professionally and it has inspired me personally. The culture here, especially events such as Family Day, emphasises the importance of family and balance. This environment played a big part in encouraging me to take the next step in my own life and I’m proud to share that I’ve now been happily married for a year and three months. It’s a reflection of how much CloudSmiths values people and relationships and it inspired me to take a leap of faith.”

The group ethos of diversity by inclusion also aligns with Stephen’s beliefs. “It creates an environment where everyone feels valued, respected and empowered to contribute. There’s a genuinely friendly atmosphere here and the people are incredibly helpful and approachable. It’s a culture that creates a real sense of belonging and makes it easy to collaborate, learn and grow.”

It's this sense of belonging and the company’s commitment to upskilling their employees that are driving Stephen’s progression. “I’m eager to further my studies and gain additional certifications, especially those offered by the company,” he explains. “I see it as an opportunity to deepen my expertise, add more value to my role and continue growing both personally and professionally while contributing to CloudSmiths’ success.”

For those looking to start a career in the IT industry or make a career change, he offers some sage wisdom. “My advice to anyone struggling to find their place in the world of tech is to start small, stay curious and never give up. The industry can feel overwhelming at first, but every skill you learn and every project you take on adds up. Don’t be afraid to ask for help or seek mentorship opportunities – there are always people willing to share knowledge and guide you. And most importantly, be open to feedback and growth with grace. Tech is constantly evolving and so are you; your persistence and willingness to learn will open the right doors.”
