Claim Mathieussika, Intermediate Automation Engineer at Inspired Testing

Claim Mathieussika is an Intermediate Automation Engineer at Inspired Testing, a Dynamic Technologies group company. Originally from Brazzaville in the Republic of the Congo, Claim now lives in Cape Town, South Africa, working a hybrid model, mainly from home with occasional visits to the local office depending on project needs. This flexible arrangement allows her to follow her passions – solving problems and building systems that make people’s lives easier, spending time in nature, travelling, and challenging herself mentally and physically through martial arts.

Claim focuses on ensuring software quality through automated testing solutions. “My role involves designing and maintaining test automation frameworks, writing and executing test scripts using tools such as Selenium and incorporating manual testing when necessary. I also actively participate in grooming sessions and contribute to refining acceptance criteria for clarity and testability. My responsibilities include end-to-end integration testing as well as API testing using Postman. I’ve worked with Azure DevOps for managing tickets and test plans, and I’m currently working with Jira for project tracking and collaboration. I’m also enhancing my skills in Playwright, which is one of the fast-growing tools in the automation space.”

Claim was contacted by a recruiter for Inspired Testing, and as she researched the company and learned about its values, she felt drawn to it. “I saw an opportunity to grow in my career and to contribute meaningfully and make an impact, so I joined.” She adds, “I’m inspired by Inspired Testing’s strong commitment to continuous learning and growth. There’s a genuine investment in people, whether through skills development, mentorship or a supportive culture that empowers you to grow with confidence. I work on diverse projects, which is helping to sharpen a broad range of skills and build well-rounded experience.” And she has a special shoutout for her delivery manager, Izak Burger. “He has been an incredible mentor. His leadership style is approachable and clear, and he has an exceptional capacity to support his team. His mentorship has played a strong role in my journey so far.”

For Claim, the company culture is welcoming, empowering and grounded in mutual respect. Diversity by inclusion isn’t just a policy; it’s reflected in daily interactions, leadership representation and opportunities for everyone. “It’s motivating to work in a place where I feel seen and valued,” she says. “Representation matters. When more women are visible in tech, it creates a ripple effect, breaking stereotypes, inspiring the next generation and encouraging more inclusive and innovative solutions. It’s not just about gender balance; it’s about diversity of thought and experience.”

In her spare time, Claim enjoys jiu jitsu, even though martial arts are traditionally considered to be a male sport. She says, “Being a woman in jiu jitsu mirrors the experience of being a woman in tech; you often find yourself in male-dominated spaces where you must prove your skill. Both tech and jiu jitsu teach resilience, discipline and the value of showing up consistently. It’s empowering to own your space in both worlds.”

She adds, “Jiu jitsu teaches you strategic thinking, patience under pressure, and how to adapt quickly, which are skills that translate perfectly in the world of tech. In both areas, progress is incremental and mindset matters as much as technique.” Recommended by her personal trainer, Claim found jiu jitsu pushed her out of her comfort zone in all the right ways. “I enjoy the mental clarity and strength it gives me. Every session feels like a puzzle where I have to stay calm and think strategically. I also love the sense of community and the confidence it builds over time. These are invaluable lessons for both martial arts and tech.”
