The XCC race proved to be a portent of what was to come as a wild ride was had by all. Luke raced to an incredible P5 result, smashing his previous best XCC result and then some. The XCO is best described as “gnarly”. Luke spent almost as much time crashing as he did on the bike – much like the rest of the field. Mechanics did their best to prepare bikes and kit for the wild, wet, and muddy conditions, but there was little they could do against the power of nature. Luke managed to power through for a P15 finish in brutal conditions. This takes him up to P8 overall in the World Series.
