Luke had a good start position on the third row for the short track on Thursday 28 September 2023 but was unfortunately caught up in an early crash at a pinch point on the course. This meant he had to fight for position from the back, and he crossed the finish line in 34th position. His hard work over the season paid off, with his overall ranking helping to push him forward for a 4th row start in the Olympic Cross-Country race on Sunday 1 October 2023.
Luke had a good start on Sunday and was sitting in 23rd for the first few laps. The group in which he found himself began a battle in earnest, and he swapped places from 23rd to 35th in the ensuing fierce contest. Fighting off the effects of travel as well as the altitude, Luke began to struggle on the penultimate lap and slipped to 35th. His never-quit spirit came to the fore, and he salvaged a finishing position of 31st, adding another 30 points to his overall tally.
