Malebo Phosa is a Junior Automation Engineer at Inspired Testing, a Dynamic Technologies group company, having started her journey there as an Automation Intern. Her primary focus is on manual testing on the Salesforce platform, using Azure DevOps to write, manage and execute test cases, and log and track defects throughout the testing cycle. Her work involves close collaboration with developers, Quality Assurance teams and business analysts to ensure that all functionalities are validated while ensuring comprehensive test coverage across different modules of Salesforce.
Malebo says, “My journey to Inspired Testing was driven by curiosity and a desire to expand my technical skills beyond data science. After completing my BSc in Computer Science and Statistics at the University of Limpopo, I began my career as a Data Science Learner in the skills development, recruitment, and banking sectors, where I developed strong analytical and programming skills using Python, SQL and SAS.
Working on data-driven projects sparked my interest in problem-solving, process optimisation and the importance of software quality. As I explored different areas of tech, I became fascinated by test automation – the perfect blend of coding, analysis and quality assurance. This curiosity led me to pursue opportunities in software testing, where I could apply my programming experience in a new way. When I discovered the Automation Internship at Inspired Testing, it felt like a natural next step. The company’s focus on innovation and excellence resonated with my own values, and joining the programme allowed me to build a strong foundation in Selenium, Java, and QA best practices, paving the way for my growth into becoming a junior automation engineer.”
Malebo appreciates the well-structured and supportive approach that Inspired Testing takes towards career development, particularly the internship programme. “What stands out is how Inspired Testing constantly encourages us to upskill and grow. The company motivates us to keep learning and provides the resources, materials and courses to help us reach our goals. It’s an environment that invests in your growth and celebrates every step of your learning journey.”
While it can be challenging as each testing environment – such as Salesforce – has its own unique structure, workflows and integrations, it’s also rewarding. Malebo says, “Seeing the impact of my work is incredibly fulfilling, knowing that the testing I perform helps deliver reliable, high-quality software that users can trust. I also enjoy identifying and resolving issues before they reach production to ensure a smoother experience for end users.”
Personal and professional growth are strongly supported and encouraged at Inspired Testing as the company purpose of making way for potential encourages individuals to achieve their optimal ability through growth, dreams and aspirations. Malebo says, “I find great reward in the continuous learning opportunities here. Each project exposes me to new tools, technologies and testing approaches, helping me grow technically and professionally.” She adds that being an intern at Inspired Testing means being part of a company that invests in your growth and professional development. The culture of support and continuous learning ensures that everyone is encouraged to upskill and explore new tools and technologies. “At Inspired Testing, every challenge is a stepping stone towards becoming a skilled and confident QA professional.”
Malebo says her own internship played a pivotal role in shaping her transition into her current role. The structured learning journey, hands-on experience and readily available mentors ensured she was equipped with the technical skills and confidence needed to take on more advanced testing responsibilities and bridge the gap between theory and practical application, as well as the soft skills needed to adapt to any working environment.
“Internships allow you to apply theoretical knowledge to practical projects, helping you develop technical skills, problem-solving abilities and industry-specific expertise that cannot be gained in a classroom alone. They also expose you to professional environments, workflows and team dynamics, teaching important soft skills such as communication, collaboration, time management and adaptability.”
Malebo aims to continue building her technical expertise, problem-solving abilities and confidence in handling complex projects, while also strengthening her communication and collaboration skills within a team setting. She aspires to grow in her journey as an automation engineer and gain deeper experience with tools such as Selenium, Cypress and API testing frameworks. Her goal is to become a well-rounded technology professional who can drive quality, innovation and efficiency in every project she works on – a goal that Inspired Testing is proud to support.
