Rose Allen, Head of Learning and Development at DVT

Rose Allen is the Head of Learning and Development at DVT, a Dynamic Technologies group company. Deeply committed to empowerment and passionate about growth, her role has a lasting impact on the lives and careers of the people at DVT.

“I started my journey at DVT in the recruitment team, which gave me an incredible foundation for understanding our people, our culture and what makes someone truly thrive here,” says Rose. “I was given the opportunity to step into a leadership role, heading up the recruitment team and focusing on attracting talent and shaping meaningful experiences for candidates and new hires.”

Her role evolved into a broader passion for people and culture development, leading to her involvement in initiatives that help DVT teams grow and become more connected. In time, Rose also took on responsibility for building and running the DVT graduate programme, which allowed her to combine her love of learning, development and mentorship in a tangible way.

“All of that led me to my current role as Head of Learning and Development,” she explains. “As such, I have the privilege of working across all business units to embed learning into our culture and create opportunities for our people to grow, thrive and #BuildBeyondThemselves. DVT has changed my own life and career! I’ve had space to learn, stretch and advance in ways I hadn’t imagined when I started. That’s why I’m so passionate about paying that forward and helping others also experience growth and transformation.”

Part of her job is to design and drive DVT’s learning strategy, which involves developing tiered competency frameworks, graduate programmes and leadership development initiatives that ensure continuous learning and evolving. For Rose, it’s about connecting the dots between business goals, client needs and personal growth so that learning becomes a shared journey rather than a checklist.

Both rewarding and challenging, her role is exciting and it allows her to make a difference. “Balancing the strategic and human sides of development can be challenging; making sure learning aligns to business objectives while still staying deeply personal, inclusive and accessible. It’s also about ensuring that the fast pace of the tech world doesn’t overshadow the need for reflection, growth and care.”

The challenges are worth it, says Rose, who’s inspired by the belief that learning has the power to change lives, not just careers.. “Watching someone step into their next role, gain confidence or find renewed passion through learning is incredibly fulfilling. It’s those ‘lightbulb’ moments when someone realises how capable they are that remind me why I do what I do. Helping people unlock potential they didn’t know they had, motivates me every single day.”

Learning opportunities open doors to new roles and to new ways of thinking. For many, it’s a catalyst, transforming how they see themselves and what they can achieve.

She adds, “People are the heartbeat of any organisation. When you invest in learning, you’re upskilling individuals and you’re strengthening culture, innovation and long-term sustainability. At DVT, we’ve seen how empowering people to grow also translates into stronger client partnerships and better business outcomes.”

Rose is also committed to Diversity by Inclusion. “It goes beyond representation, it’s about creating an environment where every voice is heard and every person feels valued. At DVT, inclusion is woven into how we lead, learn and collaborate. It ensures that our differences are celebrated, making us stronger and more innovative as a whole.”

Dynamic DNA, another Dynamic Technologies group company, is closely involved with DVT and with Rose in particular. The company offers learnerships in the IT sector to young people across South Africa. Rose says, “They play a vital role in developing new talent for the industry, and we’re proud to partner with them as part of DVT’s broader commitment to skills development and transformation.

“Together, we’ve built a strong relationship that goes beyond formal training. Each year, we sponsor up to 100 learners through Dynamic DNA’s programmes and we’ve also opened access to some of our internal DVT training to their learners to help bridge the gap between theory and real-world application. Our shared goal is to create pathways for these learners to build meaningful careers, and, wherever possible, to integrate them into DVT itself. It’s a partnership rooted in purpose and changing lives through learning.”
