Inspired Testing cleans up after the Cape Town Marathon

Inspired Testing, a Dynamic Technologies group company, is deeply invested and involved in the local community in Cape Town where it and its staff are based. When the call went out for volunteers to help protect the Sea Point beach and waters from race-day litter from the Sanlam Cape Town Marathon, Inspired Testing answered.

This year’s race saw 16 800 runners take to the Mother City’s roads. That many runners create a significant amount of rubbish as they hydrate and fuel their way through a gruelling course, and spectators along the route too, add to the litter on the day. Volunteers from Inspired Testing travelled to Sea Point on the morning of the race to ensure that they would be onsite as the first runners came through. Team members provided their own refuse bags and spent hours collecting the litter discarded by runners and spectators, ensuring that none of it reached the beach or the ocean beyond.

Plastic litter has a devastating impact on sea life and the environment in general, and it was crucially important to collect it all and prevent any from reaching the water. Inspired Testing staff took to their task with determination, while still managing to soak up the atmosphere and cheer the runners on. It’s amazing what can be achieved when the spirit of community and cooperation come together.

“At Inspired Testing, we recognise our responsibility to protect the world and the environment around us. I’m incredibly proud of our staff who volunteered and stepped up to make a real difference. A heartfelt thank you to each team member who spent their time and energy safeguarding Sea Point’s beach and ocean on race day. Together, we showed the power of community to create a lasting impact,” says Jacques Fouché, CEO at Inspired Testing.
